NBRHC hosts first Volunteer Recruitment Fair

The North Bay Regional Health Centre is looking to recruit 200 new volunteers before the hospital opens for patient care in January 2011. The Hospital is hosting a drop-in Volunteer Recruitment Fair on Saturday, October 30th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 at the new health care centre on Highway 17.

Attendees will have the opportunity to browse information booths and speak with both staff and volunteers about the many options available at the new health centre., including the new Hospital Ambassador program.

Pat Stephens, Director of Public Relations at both the North Bay General Hospital & Northeast Mental Health Centre, explains  Hospital Ambassadors will welcome and guide visitors, patients, volunteers and staff through the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

“We are very excited to roll out our new Hospital Ambassador program. Volunteers interested in this exciting new program will receive the necessary training to become an expert in all the services that the NBRHC has to offer,” Stephens explains.

Lois Krause, Executive Director of Volunteer Services at the North Bay General Hospital says there are a number of other exciting new volunteer positions to be filled as staff, physicians and volunteers prepare to move into the new facility.

“For the first time in Ontario, a mental health centre and a general hospital are amalgamating into one organization. This marks an exciting time for volunteer opportunities, and gives volunteers a chance to become a part of history,” Krause says.

Volunteers are valued members of the hospital team. Please join us on Saturday, October 30th and find out how you can make a difference.
