ASK THE BONG!

It’s Cocktail Time (again)!

The State of Israel gets a pretend Molotov cocktail to go along with the real ones they are probably going to be getting from the oppressed people of Palestine. Actually, Palestinians probably will not be able to afford the gas, so they will likely need to express themselves by throwing stones at tanks and soldiers with machine guns and at a giant apartheid wall. While Joe Biden was in Israel to jump start a peace process that both Israel and Palestine have both expressed interest in, Israel announced 1600 new homes to be built in the occupied Palestinian area of East Jerusalem. Then Israel reiterated their claim that they own East Jerusalem, which they don’t. Then, hours after the Vice President of the United States left the country that thoroughly shamed him, diplomatically speaking, Israel announced that they are closing down access to and from the West Bank. Our Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, gets a Molotov too, for his ardent support of Israeli apartheid.

A Molotov for The Nugget for throwing a Brick at North Bay city council for passing a tax levy increase of 3.45%. Would the Nugget also throw a Brick at city council if they left taxes the same and cut services? The simple assertion that “Surely, there’s something in a $105 million budget that can be cut.” If they cut it to $95 million, maybe it could be cut to $90 million? What if it was $120 million and fat was cut to bring it down to $105 million, and cutting it further, would be mean cutting into bone? The flippant manner in which the Nugget throws its Brick suggests that they don’t know where the bone is in that budget. If nothing else good can be said about this city council, they are certainly good fiscal managers. Perhaps the Nugget would serve the cause of truth and justice more effectively if they threw a brick at the Conservative government who turned a substantial budget surplus into a deficit while cutting taxes. Of course the Nugget has a rationale for their criticism and it is as follows: “We all have goals for our futures, but when times are tough, we alter those plans until we can get back on track.” The Nugget has a certain way of conducting itself during hard times that we are all aware of. Should the city of North Bay follow The Nugget’s example and cut jobs? Hey North Bay Nugget, does North Bay need any more unemployed people?
